Salt Lake City Set to Kick Off 49th Annual Utah Arts Festival
SALT LAKE CITY — The vibrant Utah Arts Festival, a cherished tradition in Salt Lake City, celebrates its 49th year starting this Thursday. Mayor Jenny Wilson recalled attending the inaugural festival as a child, reflecting on its evolution into a beloved community institution.
Running from June 19-22 at Library Square and Washington Square Park, this year’s theme, "The Great Utah Get-Together," highlights the festival’s artistic journey over the decades. Mayor Wilson emphasized the consistent mission of the festival: to honor diverse forms of art, stating, "The love and the engagement around these types of gatherings gets better every year."
Festival executive director Aimee Dunsmore noted public feedback has driven this year’s enhancements, including a revamped stage layout for increased shade and live demonstrations by artists. Attendees can also look forward to interactive murals and performers roaming the festival grounds.
As Utah’s largest outdoor multidisciplinary arts event, the festival will showcase over 170 visual artists and 200 performances across multiple genres. With activities catering to all ages, including free admission for children under 12, the festival expects to draw around 40,000 visitors, fostering a celebration of creativity and community.
