Northwestern Mutual Appoints Beth Rodenhuis as EVP and COO
Milwaukee, WI—Northwestern Mutual has announced the appointment of Beth Rodenhuis as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and Business Architect, effective immediately. This strategic move, disclosed Tuesday, will see Rodenhuis managing the firm’s technology and digital strategy, focusing on platform design, operating models, and enterprise architecture.
Rodenhuis returns to Northwestern Mutual after six years at Capital Group, where she was Senior Vice President and Global Head of Digital Products and Capabilities. Prior to her tenure at Capital Group, she was with Northwestern Mutual for nearly 14 years, where she held several leadership positions, including Chief Transformation Officer.
Her appointment follows the departure of Dave Gordon, who previously held the role of Chief Digital and Information Officer for just under six months. In a notable shift, Northwestern Mutual has indicated that it does not intend to replace Gordon’s position.
This leadership change occurs during CEO Tim Gerend’s first year at the helm, having succeeded longtime leader John Schlifske. Gerend emphasized Rodenhuis’s experience and familiarity with the company, stating she has a proven track record of enhancing both advisor and client experiences through innovative business-technology collaboration.
Northwestern Mutual also recently showcased its advancements in artificial intelligence, utilizing Amazon Bedrock to implement AI agents that enhance software development. AI applications are emerging as critical to the insurance sector, with trends observed in areas like auto claims processing and risk assessment.
Amidst these innovations and leadership changes, Northwestern Mutual reported a revenue of $38 billion in 2024, reflecting a 5% year-over-year increase, signaling robust growth for the private financial services firm.
