Evacuations for Willard Peak Fire Extended Until Thursday Afternoon

Press Release: Evacuations Continue Amid Willard Peak Fire in North Ogden

North Ogden, UT – August 14, 2025 – Over 150 families remain displaced due to the ongoing Willard Peak Fire, which has prompted evacuation orders effective until 5 p.m. today. Fortunately, no homes have been lost as the fire, now at 754 acres, remains 0% contained. The fires’ challenging conditions, exacerbated by steep terrain and hot weather, have hampered firefighting efforts.

The American Red Cross is managing a temporary shelter at a local meetinghouse, currently accommodating around ten evacuees and their pets. Shelter manager Kirsti Dunn emphasized their commitment to providing support as long as needed.

Among those affected is Eamonn Bent, who faced anxiety while working away from home, worry escalating when he learned of the evacuation. He successfully coordinated with his parents to ensure the safety of his Mini Aussie, Tali.

North Ogden officials are actively communicating updates, reminding residents of the fire’s seriousness while promoting community unity and kindness during this crisis. The fire reportedly ignited due to a vehicle fire Wednesday afternoon, and authorities continue to keep residents informed as they manage this developing situation.
