Utah Sports Hall of Fame Inducts 2025 Class
SALT LAKE CITY, UT – The Utah Sports Hall of Fame Foundation has announced five new inductees for the 2025 class, celebrating the achievements and contributions of these remarkable athletes and sports figures. The ceremony will take place on September 22 at the Little America Hotel.
The inductees, in alphabetical order, are:
Mary Kay Amicone
A pivotal figure in Utah’s softball landscape, Amicone boasts over 800 career victories, coaching at BYU, Salt Lake Community College, and Weber State. She notably led Bingham High School to a state championship and broke ground as the first female head coach of a high school baseball team in Utah.
John Buck
A Taylorsville High School graduate, Buck was drafted by the Houston Astros in 1998. Over an 11-year MLB career, he played for seven teams, achieving 844 hits, 134 home runs, and a career batting average of .234.
Wally Joyner
Although not originally from Utah, Joyner became a Mapleton resident after an impressive college career at BYU. Drafted by the California Angels in 1983, he played 16 seasons, accumulating over 2,000 hits and a .289 average. After retiring, he transitioned to coaching, contributing his expertise to multiple MLB teams.
Stew Morrill
A legendary figure in Utah basketball, Morrill enjoyed significant success at Utah State, where he coached from 1998. His 17-year tenure included 402 wins and 14 consecutive seasons of at least 21 wins, making him a celebrated name in collegiate basketball.
Holly Rowe
An acclaimed ESPN sideline reporter, Rowe is known for her extensive coverage of college sports, particularly women’s basketball and football. A graduate of the University of Utah, her contributions to sports media have made her a prominent figure in Utah’s sports community.
This latest induction class reflects a rich tapestry of talent and commitment, further solidifying Utah’s vibrant sports heritage.
