Estero Village Proposes New Lifestyle Center with Indoor Pickleball Courts
Estero, FL — August 12, 2025 — The Village of Estero is actively seeking community input on a proposed lifestyle center at the Shadow Wood Country Club, which could greatly enhance local amenities. This ambitious project features a 38,000-square-foot facility designed to include six indoor pickleball courts, pro shops, restaurants, and a resort-style pool.
Currently, the proposed amenities would only be accessible to club members, raising questions about public access and funding. The Planning, Zoning and Design Board, which reviewed the proposal earlier this year, has made recommendations to maintain a balanced environment, such as turning off outdoor tennis court lighting by 9 p.m. and limiting construction to weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Residents are invited to voice their opinions at a public hearing scheduled for 4:30 p.m. today in the Council Chambers at Village Hall, located at 9401 Corkscrew Palms Circle. While the village has yet to disclose the total cost of the project, inquiries are ongoing to clarify funding details and the potential for public access.
This initiative aims to contribute to the ongoing development and growth of Estero, fostering a vibrant community with diverse recreational options. The proposed lifestyle center reflects a shift towards more active and engaged living, responding to the growing popularity of sports such as pickleball.
Community members are encouraged to attend the hearing to ensure that their perspectives are heard as the village moves forward with its development plans. For real-time updates on this story and more, residents can download the Gulf Coast News app to stay informed.
