Moore Returns to Utah: Discussing Epstein, Town Halls, and the Big, Beautiful Bill

Congressman Blake Moore Calls for Transparency on Epstein Files Amid Political Divisions

OGDEN, Utah — Congressman Blake Moore expressed his support for the release of certain files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, emphasizing the need for transparency while cautioning against compromising the privacy of potential victims. "I absolutely support transparency, but protecting victims’ private information is crucial," Moore stated during a recent press meeting.

Moore highlighted the political divide surrounding the issue, attributing part of the blame to Democrats who have not pressed for similar disclosures regarding President Biden. He noted, "If they feel like it could affect Trump negatively, they’ll continue to push it."

Amidst the August recess, Moore traveled back to Utah to engage with local business leaders and advocate for the economic benefits of the "Big, Beautiful Bill," which he commended for its child tax credit provisions and tax cuts aimed at supporting families in the First District. "People are thrilled with the business provisions," he reported, emphasizing the importance of permanent child tax credits to bolster family growth.

On social services cuts, Moore identified strong public support for work requirements in Medicaid, stating, "That’s a good thing," while acknowledging the need to ensure no one falls through the cracks in the system.

Derek Miller, CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber, backed Moore’s remarks, particularly appreciating the permanence of tax cuts and calling for heightened focus on legal immigration pathways to assist Utah employers.

Responding to constituents’ frustrations with aspects of the "Big, Beautiful Bill" and Trump’s policies, Moore confirmed discussions about holding town hall meetings during his district work period. “We started the August district work period and are figuring out what the rest of the month holds,” he concluded.
