Utah State University Achieves Academic Excellence with 227 Scholar-Athlete Honors
LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University (USU) has demonstrated remarkable academic achievement, finishing second in the Mountain West Conference (MWC) for the 2024-25 academic year. The university received a total of 227 scholar-athlete accolades, representing a significant contribution to the league’s total of 1,640 awards announced Thursday. Notably, 29 Aggies maintained a flawless 4.0 GPA throughout the academic year.
The MWC Scholar-Athlete Award is a prestigious recognition, granted to student-athletes who complete at least two academic terms at their institution while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Utah State excelled in several sports, leading the conference with 49 honors in women’s track and field, followed closely by 36 in men’s track and field. Additional recognitions included 12 in men’s cross country, 24 in women’s soccer, and 11 in volleyball.
In comparison to other MWC institutions, Utah State’s count was only surpassed by New Mexico’s 231 awards. The university outperformed UNLV’s 151 scholar-athletes, Colorado State’s 149, and Boise State’s 146.
Aggie student-athletes also showed notable representation across various sports: 20 in women’s cross country, 15 in softball, and 13 in gymnastics, underscoring a commitment to excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
