Utah State Shines with Academic Excellence in Mountain West Conference
LOGAN, Utah – In a notable showcase of collegiate achievement, Utah State University has been recognized with 163 student-athletes making the All-Academic Teams for the Mountain West Conference’s winter and spring sports, marking the second-highest total in the league.
Leading the honors for Utah State were the women’s track & field team with 54 selections, followed closely by men’s track & field with 42. Other standout programs included softball (16), gymnastics (13), and both women’s and men’s basketball with 10 and 9 selections, respectively. Notably, three Utah State programs—men’s basketball, men’s track & field, and women’s track & field—boasted the highest number of all-academic honorees in the Mountain West, while women’s tennis tied for the top honors in its category.
New Mexico topped the conference with 183 academic accolades, followed by Utah State and Fresno State, which secured 132.
Among the recipients, 24 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA, including standout members from both men’s and women’s track & field, softball, gymnastics, and women’s basketball.
The accolades underscore not just athletic prowess but also significant academic commitment. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 following completion of one academic term.
