Utah Football Welcomes Talented Recruits as Summer Programs Heat Up
SALT LAKE CITY – Kyle Whittingham and the Utah football coaching staff are ramping up their recruiting efforts this summer, hosting several high-profile prospects on campus. Among them is Josiah Jefferson, a promising 6-foot-5 tight end from Southwestern Community College in California, who will visit from June 20-22. Jefferson, a three-star recruit ranked by Rivals, has generated interest from numerous Division-I programs, including Arizona, Boise State, and Oklahoma, where his brother, Tony Jefferson, plays for the Los Angeles Chargers.
With 23 receptions for 213 yards in nine games this past season, Jefferson is drawing attention from major players in college football. His visit marks a significant opportunity for Utah to enhance its 2026 recruiting class, which has already seen growth with recent commitments.
In addition to Jefferson, the Utes are set to host a trio of in-state prospects this weekend: Kennan and Jaron Pula from Lone Peak High School, ranked No. 68 and No. 61 nationally among wide receivers respectively, and safety Aisa Galea’i from Timpview High School, ranked No. 81. This assemblage of talent highlights Utah’s strategy of attracting local athletes while also reaching into broader talent pools.
Moreover, the Utes’ 2026 class recently welcomed three-star tight end Bear Fisher as its sixth commitment this month. Fisher joins an impressive lineup that includes quarterback Michael Johnson, linebacker LaGary Mitchell, running back LaMarcus Bell, and cornerbacks Major Hinchen and Carter Stewart.
As the summer progresses, Utah football is positioning itself for a competitive recruiting season, aiming to strengthen their roster for future campaigns. Fans and analysts alike will be closely watching the developments as these young talents make their decisions.
