Ta’a Malu Visits Utah Football Program Amid Growing Interest

SALT LAKE CITY – Rising star Ta’a Malu, a 2026 defensive line recruit, made waves following his recent official visit to the University of Utah’s football program. Just a week after receiving an offer, Malu expressed his gratitude for the experience through a heartfelt post on X, thanking Head Coach Kyle Whittingham and the coaching staff for their hospitality.

At 6-foot-3 and weighing 280 pounds, Malu’s impressive combination of size and speed positions him as a valuable asset for Utah’s defensive front line. Ranked by 247Sports as a three-star prospect, he stands out as the No. 25 recruit from Washington’s 2026 class and is currently the No. 180 overall defensive lineman in the nation.

Following his visit to Utah, Malu continued his recruitment journey with tours to Arizona and UNLV, and he is set to conclude his summer visits with an official trip to Boise State on June 19. Additionally, he has already made stops at UC Davis and Nevada.

Utah’s recruiting efforts for the 2026 class have gained momentum, with recent commitments from several notable prospects, including three-stars Michael Johnson (No. 45 quarterback), LaGary Mitchell (No. 77 linebacker), Major Hinchen (No. 123 cornerback), LaMarcus Bell (No. 23 running back), and Carter Stewart (No. 160 cornerback). Preston Pitts (No. 39 edge rusher) also pledged his commitment to the program in April.

Currently, Utah’s 2026 recruiting class ranks No. 71 nationally, according to 247Sports. As excitement builds within the program, Ta’a Malu’s interest signals a promising future for the Utes as they continue to attract top talent.
