Press Release: Utah County Welcomes Bountiful Fishing Season
Utah County, May 13, 2025 – As summer approaches, Utah County’s lakes, rivers, and ponds are thriving with freshly stocked fish, thanks to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR). The agency has been actively stocking local waters throughout the spring, making fishing more accessible for recreational anglers.
Richard Hartman, Springville Hatchery Supervisor, reports that most fish are stocked before July due to rising water temperatures. The hatchery is focusing on warm-water fish like catfish for the summer months before resuming trout stocking in September. Areas like Deer Creek Reservoir received over 150,000 rainbow trout, while Strawberry Reservoir welcomed 400,000 fish during the spring.
Local ponds such as Salem Pond and Bartholomew Park Pond have also received thousands of fish to enhance fishing experiences for the community. Hartman notes positive feedback from anglers about the exceptional fishing season so far.
Key locations stocked recently include the Provo River Delta, American Fork Creek, and several parks around Utah Valley. As families and fishing enthusiasts gear up for the summer, they can look forward to plentiful fishing opportunities across the region.
