Utah Valley University Welcomes Transfer Center Joul Karram

OREM — Utah Valley University (UVU) head men’s basketball coach Todd Phillips has announced the signing of Joul Karram, a promising sophomore center transferring from the University of Utah. Standing at 6-foot-11, Karram is expected to fortify the team’s interior presence for the upcoming season.

“Joul brings great size and length to our lineup,” said Phillips. “His skills in the post and ability to stretch the floor will be invaluable. Having added significant strength during his time in the Big 12, he will be key for us at the five spot.”

Karram has appeared in eight games for the Runnin’ Utes, recording five points and 11 rebounds while shooting an impressive 66.7% from the field in just 3.6 minutes per game. His contributions were limited in Utah, but his extensive international experience showcases his potential.

Before joining collegiate ranks, Karram was a vital player for Hapoel Tel Aviv and represented Israel in both U16 and U18 national teams. Notably, he was named to the Israeli U18 All-Star Team after a strong performance at the 2024 FIBA U18 Eurobasket in Finland, where he helped Israel reach the semifinals against top-tier European teams like France and Spain. Karram’s standout statistics at Hapoel included averages of 13.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks, alongside a 42.9% three-point shooting percentage.

Hailing from Nazareth, Israel, Karram has journeyed through various international competitions across Serbia, Macedonia, and Finland, further enriching UVU’s basketball program with his global perspective and competitive spirit. The anticipation for Karram’s debut with the Wolverines is building as the team prepares for the next season.
