An actor and screenwriter, Derek Dixon, has filed a lawsuit against media mogul Tyler Perry, alleging sexual harassment and unwanted advances. As Dixon began working on Perry’s show “The Oval,” he alleges Perry would engage in sexually explicit discussions and treat him like an “on-call pet.”
The complaint details incidents where Perry allegedly groped Dixon and cites a lawyer’s comment post-assault that he had done a good job, coupled with financial incentives related to Dixon’s work. Although Perry purchased the rights to a script Dixon had written, the suit claims Perry never intended to produce it and used the project to manipulate Dixon.
Faced with continued sexual coercion, Dixon opted not to disclose the alleged abuse initially, prioritizing his career advancement. However, he later filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission after declining further offers from Perry. The case raises serious allegations about power dynamics in the entertainment industry.
