Press Release: Wildlife Walls Initiative Connects Art with Conservation in Utah
Salt Lake City, Utah – Local artist Chris Peterson has launched Wildlife Walls, a grassroots art initiative dedicated to celebrating Utah’s native species and habitats through vibrant murals. By blending art with conservation dialogues, Peterson aims to foster community engagement and appreciation for the state’s biodiversity.
The initiative features an interactive map highlighting mural locations and nearby wildlife viewing spots, encouraging exploration of Utah’s diverse ecosystems. Peterson’s ambitious goal includes creating a mural in each of Utah’s 29 counties, with 14 already completed in six counties.
Peterson’s art, deeply influenced by his own memorable wildlife encounters, seeks to evoke a profound connection between individuals and nature. From his pioneering mural of the Bonneville cutthroat trout to various other pieces, each project reflects the stories and experiences embodied in local wildlife.
To further engage the community, Wildlife Walls also offers a “Hit the Trail” contest, incentivizing exploration with social media giveaways. As the initiative continues to grow, Peterson envisions not just beautifying public spaces but inspiring a culture of environmental stewardship among Utah residents. With plans for future murals already underway, Wildlife Walls stands as a testament to the power of art in promoting conservation.
