Utah Football 2025 Offense Preview: A New Era with Devon Dampier

Salt Lake City, UT – August 31, 2024 – After a disappointing season, the Utah Utes are eyeing a resurgence in 2025, spearheaded by new quarterback Devon Dampier and an upgraded offensive strategy under the guidance of offensive coordinator Jason Beck.

Last year, Utah’s offense struggled immensely, ranking 115th nationally in total offense, as injuries forced multiple players, including anticipated starter Cam Rising, to step in at quarterback. With four quarterbacks attempting over 30 passes, the Utes managed a mere 102nd in scoring. Enter Beck, formerly of New Mexico, where he managed a top-four offense despite a challenging defense. His prior success is now pivotal as he introduces Dampier, who dazzled last season for the Lobos, amassing close to 2,800 passing yards and over 1,166 rushing yards.

While Isaac Wilson, who led the Utes with 1,510 yards and ten touchdowns, remains in the mix, the starting role is Dampier’s to claim. The Utes have also bolstered their roster through the transfer portal, acquiring running back Wayshawn Parker from Washington State and receiver NaQuari Rogers, who is familiar with Beck’s system.

The receiving corps is evolving, with Ryan Davis and Otto Tia among the new faces expected to make an impact. Tia’s versatility as both a receiver and possible tight end adds depth. Utah’s offensive line remains solid, anchored by All-American candidate Spencer Fano and pro prospect Caleb Lomu.

As preparations gear up for the upcoming season, the Utes are poised for an offensive makeover, aiming to move from last year’s struggles to a competitive presence in the Big 12. The combination of strategic coaching changes and player acquisitions makes Utah a team to watch in 2025.
