Salt Lake City, Utah – A man was critically injured in a shooting during a "No Kings" protest on June 14, which drew a crowd of approximately 10,000 participants. The incident occurred around 7:56 p.m. near 151 South State Street as demonstrators gathered to protest President Donald Trump’s administration, coinciding with his military parade in Washington, D.C.
The Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) responded swiftly, confirming one male victim suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds and was quickly transported to the hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest the shooting involved four individuals. Witnesses helped identify the alleged shooter, who was apprehended near 200 East 100 South, also requiring medical attention for a gunshot wound.
As bystanders fled amidst the chaos, police issued urgent warnings, escalating the tension significantly. SLCPD believes the shooting is possibly linked to the protest, and further investigation is ongoing. Two additional individuals were taken into custody, although their involvement remains unclear.
