Utah Leaders Condemn Targeted Violence Following Tragic Shooting in Minnesota
SALT LAKE CITY — In the aftermath of a tragic shooting involving two Minnesota politicians early Saturday, Utah Governor Spencer Cox and state leaders have condemned the violence and expressed their condolences.
Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband were tragically killed, while State Senator John Hoffman and his wife sustained serious injuries in a targeted attack that involved a suspect impersonating a police officer. As of noon Saturday, the shooter remains at large.
Governor Cox addressed the violence in a statement, highlighting the importance of shared humanity over hatred. “The attack in Minnesota is a heartbreaking reminder of what happens when we allow hatred to replace our shared humanity.
