Logan Hammer Claims All-American Honors at NCAA Championships
EUGENE, Ore. — Junior Logan Hammer of Utah State University made headlines on Wednesday at the 2025 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships by earning second-team All-American honors in the pole vault. Competing at Hayward Field, Hammer cleared 5.33 meters (17-5.75), finishing tied for 13th in a competitive field.
“He’s been fantastic, and although the result wasn’t what he had hoped for, he has been the most consistent vaulter in the NCAA this outdoor season,” remarked Artie Gulden, USU’s director of track and field and cross country. He praised Hammer’s remarkable season, highlighting both his indoor and outdoor performances.
With this achievement, Hammer secured his third career All-American accolade, making him the first Aggie to reach this milestone since Dillon Maggard and Clay Lambourne both accomplished it in 2018. After the junior season, Hammer now stands as the seventh-most decorated men’s track and field athlete in USU’s history. Texas A&M’s Aleksandr Solovev captured the championship with a jump of 5.78 meters (18-11.5).
Gulden emphasized Hammer’s role as an inspiration for fellow athletes, stating, “He’s shown the other guys and ladies in the program that making it to NCAA’s is a possibility, and that’s what we need to be striving for.”
The championships continue with sophomore Shelby Jensen representing the Aggies on Thursday in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinals, scheduled for 5:38 p.m. (MT). Viewers can watch the event live on ESPN2.
As the meet progresses, Hammer’s achievements highlight the potential and competitive spirit of the Utah State Track and Field program.
