Utah Utes Land Commitment from Five-Star Kicker

Utah Football Recruiting Heats Up with New Committments

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Utes football program has been actively enhancing its roster as recruiting season intensifies. Head Coach Kyle Whittingham has hosted various highly-rated prospects for both official and unofficial visits, resulting in multiple commitments from the class of 2026.

Among the newest additions is kicker Robert Petrich, a standout from San Diego Mesa College, who has officially pledged to join the Utes. The announcement came through Petrich’s social media, expressing gratitude towards his coaches and excitement about joining the program.

Petrich, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound talent, had an impressive debut season with the Olympians, where he made 12 out of 16 field goal attempts and converted 36 of 39 extra point attempts. His kicking skills shone through during kickoffs, achieving 39 touchbacks, and boasts the ability to kick the ball over 65 yards with more than four seconds of hang time. Such capabilities are expected to greatly bolster Utah’s special teams unit.

With accolades including two all-league honors and first-team All-CIF recognition from his high school career at Granite Hills, Petrich is highly regarded in the kicking community, notably earning five-star status from Chris Sailer Kicking.

As Utah moves forward, the program sees a transition at the kicker position. Last year’s starter, Cole Becker, has exhausted his eligibility. The Utes currently have two kickers on the roster: true freshman Dillon Curtis, a former six-star recruit, and sophomore Joey Cheek, who made a 37-yard field goal last season.

As another big recruiting weekend approaches, Utah looks to build momentum with Petrich’s commitment and other potential prospects visiting campus.
