Mason Strong Earns ABCA All-Region Honors for Utah Valley

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Utah Valley University’s Mason Strong has been recognized as a Second Team selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) for the West Region, marking his first career All-Region accolade. This recognition also represents a milestone for head coach Nate Rasmussen in his continued effort to elevate the program.

Strong made a significant impact this season, participating in 58 games and emerging as a formidable competitor in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). With a batting average of .366, Strong ranked fifth in the WAC and led the Wolverines with 87 hits—surpassing the WAC Player of the Year by a single tally.

Hailing from Santa Clara, Utah, Strong’s clutch performances were pivotal in leading Utah Valley to its second WAC Tournament title. His standout moments included a crucial leadoff single in the ninth inning against Abilene Christian, which set the stage for a decisive three-run home run. He also shined with a 3-for-5 effort in the WAC Semifinal and a flawless 4-for-4 performance in the championship game, where he contributed two late-game home runs, including a game-winner.

Strengthening Utah Valley’s reputation, Strong is the only WAC representative on the All-Region team, adding to the university’s legacy with its eighth all-time ABCA All-Region selection. This is the first time since 2011 that the program has honored back-to-back selections.

With Strong’s contributions on and off the field, the Wolverines continue to carve out a significant place in collegiate baseball, positioning themselves for future success under Rasmussen’s leadership.
