Hostage Situation in Price, Utah Ends with Arrest

PRICE, Utah — The Price City Police Department successfully apprehended 52-year-old Rogelio Bustillos on Friday, following a tense situation involving allegations of aggravated kidnapping, battery, and assault. Bustillos reportedly forced his way into a residence twice, brandishing firearms and holding multiple victims at gunpoint while inquiring about his wife.

Armed with several guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, Bustillos had previously indicated a desire for a confrontation with law enforcement. In response to the threat, the Price PD enlisted the support of multiple agencies, including the Utah County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT team and the Emery County Sheriff’s Office’s K9 unit.

Captain Brandon Ratcliffe of the Price PD acknowledged the importance of these resources, emphasizing the impact such incidents can have on the close-knit community. “Everyone knows everybody here, and it affects us all,” he said. Despite the alarming circumstances, Ratcliffe confirmed that the victims suffered no physical injuries.

Bustillos is currently in custody without bail. The Price Police Department is prioritizing mental health support for both victims and first responders affected by the event, urging those in need to seek professional help. Further details will be disclosed as the investigation progresses.
