Utah Track & Field Makes History at NCAA West Regionals

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Utah track & field team has achieved a historic milestone, sending a record six athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The notable moment came on the final day of the NCAA West Regionals at E.B. Cushing Stadium, where the 4x100m relay team made headlines by securing a qualifying spot.

The relay squad, comprised of Megan Rose, Emily Martin, Bailey Kealamakia, and Chelsea Amoah, set a school record with a time of 43.85 seconds, earning them the last qualifying slot and making them the first 4x100m relay team in Utah history to compete at the NCAA Championships.

“We’re thrilled with the team’s performance and the new school record,” said head coach. “This is a significant achievement for our program.”

Despite the relay team’s success, not every athlete advanced. The 1500m trio of Bri Rinn, Erin Vringer, and Millie Wilcox fell short of qualifying times, with Rinn finishing at 4:13.05 and Vringer close behind at 4:13.35. Wilcox rounded out the group finishing at 4:21.49.

In other events, Sona Kourilova clocked a solid 10:19.46 in the 3000m steeplechase, while Emily Chaston also missed advancing with a time of 10:22.71. Vringer returned to the track for the 5000m but finished at 16:20.17, missing another qualifying chance.

The weekend culminated with the 4x400m relay team, featuring Amoah, Martin, Annie Ivins, and Kealamakia, finishing with the third-fastest time in program history at 3:35.30, although they did not advance.

The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place from June 12 in Eugene, Ore. For updates, fans can visit www.UtahUtes.com and follow on social media.
