London’s Latent Technology Raises $8M to Revolutionize Gaming with Generative Physics

Press Release

Latent Technology Secures $8 Million Seed Funding for AI-Driven Gaming Innovations

London-based Latent Technology, a pioneering gaming company focused on AI-driven physical animation, has successfully raised $8 million in seed funding. The funding round was co-led by AlbionVC and Spark Capital, with contributions from Root Ventures and Alumni Ventures.

Latent Technology’s innovative approach seeks to replace traditional pre-scripted animations with generative physics-based systems that adapt in real-time to player interactions, creating a highly personalized gaming experience. Co-founder and CEO Jorge del Val emphasized the transformative potential of AI in game development, stating, "While many companies are using AI to optimize existing workflows, we’re focused on enabling something fundamentally new: emergent, interactive animation that reacts in real-time."

The company’s cutting-edge technology is driven by its proprietary model, Phoenix, designed to generate realistic movements and behaviors without the need for manually crafted animations. With this latest investment, Latent will accelerate the development of its Latent Behaviour Engine, which empowers developers to implement physics-driven AI behaviors. Currently, the company is conducting closed beta tests with select studios and plans to unveil two tech demos later this year.

Del Val highlighted the importance of delivering tangible experiences during development, aiming to integrate closely with workflows by providing playable demos that showcase the technology’s capabilities.

Investors view Latent’s innovations as a significant leap in the gaming landscape. AlbionVC’s Sebastian Hunte remarked, "Latent’s technology positions it to become the core infrastructure for the future of game development—powering next-gen interactive experiences through real-time, generative animation."

As AI continues to reshape creative industries, the gaming sector stands at the forefront of real-time generative content, with major players like Unity and Epic Games increasingly prioritizing AI-native workflows to enhance realism while optimizing production costs.
