House Republicans Elect New Leadership Team in Utah
Salt Lake City, UT – In a pivotal move following the resignation of Rep. Jefferson Moss, House Republicans have elected Rep. Casey Snider of Paradise as the new majority leader of the Utah House of Representatives. The special election took place on June 4, 2025, as part of a broader effort to fill leadership vacancies and maintain effective governance in the face of change.
Snider, who previously served as the assistant whip, expressed his enthusiasm for the role. "I am honored to take on this position and grateful for the opportunity to serve,” he said. House Speaker Mike Schultz commended the newly formed leadership team, asserting their commitment to serving Utah families with integrity and foresight.
Moss’s resignation, effective May 30, was prompted by his appointment as the executive director for the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity. Snider, first appointed to the Legislature in 2018 at just 33 years old, has a history of significant legislative involvement, including sponsorship of a bill aimed at enhancing public safety through state-police partnerships in Salt Lake City.
Alongside Snider, Rep. Candice Pierucci of Riverton was elected as the majority whip, and Rep. Bridger Bolinder of Grantsville secured the position of majority assistant whip. Pierucci stated, "Our leadership team is energized and ready to make a lasting impact for families across the state," while Bolinder expressed eagerness to ensure that every voice within the caucus is represented.
Despite holding a supermajority, House leadership also acknowledges the presence of the minority caucus, with Rep. Angela Romero serving as the minority leader. As the new leadership team settles in, they will focus on advancing key policies that benefit all Utahns.
