Rep. Casey Snider Elected Majority Leader of Utah House Republicans
SALT LAKE CITY — In a pivotal leadership transition, Rep. Casey Snider has been elected as the new majority leader of the House Republican caucus, succeeding former Rep. Jefferson Moss, who vacated the role to accept a cabinet position with Gov. Spencer Cox. Snider, hailing from Paradise, has previously served as the majority assistant whip, signaling continuity within the leadership as he joins House Speaker Mike Schultz as one of the remaining members from the previous team.
In Tuesday’s closed-door leadership elections, Rep. Candice Pierucci will take on the role of majority whip, replacing Rep. Karianne Lisonbee, while Rep. Bridger Bolinder has been appointed as the new majority assistant whip, filling Snider’s former position.
"I am excited to work alongside this new leadership team as we represent our caucus and work on behalf of all Utahns," Schultz stated. This new lineup marks the emergence of a fresh guard within the House GOP, with Snider having been appointed in 2018, Pierucci in 2019, and Bolinder in just his second term after being sworn in earlier this year.
Expressing gratitude for his new role, Snider emphasized the team’s commitment to representing the needs of both the caucus and the broader public. "Our leadership team is committed to serving… and advancing meaningful policy for the benefit of every Utahn," he affirmed.
Pierucci and Bolinder echoed similar sentiments, expressing eagerness to listen to their constituents and make a significant impact throughout the state. The new leadership team is expected to hold a press conference during interim meetings later in the month to present their vision moving forward.
