Utah House Republicans Choose New Leadership Team

Utah House Republicans Appoint Casey Snider as New Majority Leader

SALT LAKE CITY—In a significant leadership shift, the Utah House Republicans elected Rep. Casey Snider, R-Paradise, as their new majority leader during a closed-door caucus meeting on Tuesday night. Snider was chosen over Rep. Karianne Lisonbee, R-Clearfield, following the resignation of former House Majority Leader Jefferson Moss, who took on a new role as executive director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity.

Rep. Candice Pierucci, R-Herriman, was elected as majority whip, while Rep. Bridger Bolinder, R-Grantsville, took on the role of assistant majority whip. House Speaker Mike Schultz, R-Hooper, expressed enthusiasm about the new leadership team: "This leadership team stands ready to work on behalf of all Utahns."

Snider, 33, brings extensive legislative experience, having served since 2018 and previously held the position of chair of the House Rules Committee. He has also worked in various capacities, including as a legislative director for former U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop and as a firefighter. Now a seasoned politician, Snider is no longer the youngest legislator in the House, a title now held by Rep. Tyler Clancy, R-Provo.

Meanwhile, Pierucci has been active in shaping education policy, notably championing the controversial “Utah Fits All” school choice voucher program, which was recently deemed unconstitutional by a district court. She aims to continue making a lasting impact for families.

Bolinder, relatively new to the House, also holds leadership experience through his role as chair of the House Health and Human Services Committee. "I’m eager to get to work," he stated, affirming his commitment to representing every voice in the caucus and broader Utah.

The new leadership team is poised to impact the state significantly and advance policies that benefit all Utah residents.
