Saquon Barkley of the Eagles to Grace the Cover of Madden NFL 26

Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley has been announced as the cover athlete for EA Sports’ Madden NFL 26. His iconic backward hurdle over a defender from Week 9 of the previous season, during a Super Bowl-winning year, is showcased on the standard edition cover, while the deluxe edition features a close-up of Barkley in game attire.

Last season, Barkley made history by surpassing the NFL single-season rushing record, including playoffs, with a total of 2,504 rushing yards, exceeding Terrell Davis’s previous record of 2,476 yards. He concluded what many consider the best debut season for a free agent in Philadelphia sports with 18 rushing touchdowns.

In an EA Sports news release, Barkley expressed his excitement about being featured on the cover and joining the Madden NFL ’99 Club. He acknowledged the support of his teammates, coaches, and Eagles fans, expressing eagerness to return to the field and create more memorable moments for fans playing Madden NFL 26.

Barkley’s selection marks a significant return for the Eagles, as he is the first player from the team to grace the cover since Donovan McNabb featured on Madden 06. His achievements and performance last season have made him a standout player, not just for the Eagles but across the league. This recognition signifies both his personal success and the team’s remarkable journey that led to their championship victory.
