Arizona Wildcats Dominate Utah Valley with Record-Setting Home Run Display
EUGENE, Ore. — The Arizona Wildcats showcased an explosive offensive performance on Saturday night, smashing a program-record eight home runs to secure a convincing 14-4 victory over the Utah Valley Wolverines in the Eugene Regional. Star player Mason White led the charge, hitting three home runs, contributing significantly to Arizona’s 41-18 season record.
The Wildcats are now poised to clinch a super regional berth with a win on Sunday against the victor of an elimination game between Utah Valley and Cal Poly. Both teams must defeat Arizona twice to advance in the double-elimination format.
In addition to White’s remarkable batting, teammates Tommy Splaine, Brendan Summerhill, Garen Caulfield, Aaron Walton, and Adonys Guzman also contributed home runs. On the mound, Casey Hintz (7-4) provided solid relief with three no-hit innings, while Michael Hilker Jr. struck out seven batters over three scoreless innings, earning his first save of the season. Starter Raul Garayzar’s performance was less stellar, allowing four runs in three innings.
Utah Valley managed to score runs through singles by Mason Strong and Dominic Longo II, along with two groundouts, but ultimately fell short against the Wildcats’ formidable lineup.
