EUGENE, Oreg. — In a thrilling contest, Utah Valley University secured a 6-5 victory over the University of Oregon in the Eugene Regional on Friday night. Jimmy De Anda was the standout performer for the Wolverines, driving in three runs with a double and a single. This win propels fourth-seeded Utah Valley (33-27) into a winner’s bracket matchup against second-seeded Arizona on Saturday.

The Wolverines took charge of the game with a four-run third inning, highlighted by De Anda’s double down the left-field line. Luke Iverson and Mason Strong followed with crucial RBIs, establishing a 4-0 lead. The Ducks fought back in the fourth inning, with Drew Smith hitting a two-run homer and Anson Aroz contributing a solo shot, cutting the deficit to 4-3.

Utah Valley extended its lead in the seventh with De Anda’s two-run single, making it 6-3. Smith, who finished with two home runs and three RBIs, added another solo shot in the eighth. However, Oregon’s hopes ended in the ninth as Smith struck out with a runner on base.

Carston Herman picked up the win for Utah Valley, while Cooper Littledike notched his sixth save. Oregon’s Jason Reitz took the loss.
