Utah State Track & Field Competes at NCAA West First Rounds in Texas
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Utah State women’s track and field team was represented by three athletes at the 2025 NCAA West First Rounds on Thursday. Junior Krysthina Vlahovic finished 46th in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 14.32 seconds. This marked her inaugural appearance at the NCAA West First Rounds, and she has qualified for the 2025 Canadian Track & Field Championships set for later this summer in Ottawa.
In the 10,000 meters, senior Emma Thornley and sophomore Brianne Smith also showcased their talents, finishing 30th and 40th with times of 35:22.35 and 36:45.32, respectively. Thornley improved her performance from last year’s event, where she placed 37th. As a key competitor, she is set to race again on Saturday, alongside teammate Sarah Ellis in the 5,000 meters.
The focus will shift to the men’s events on Friday, with 10 Utah State athletes participating in various events, including the discus, high jump, and 3,000-meter steeplechase. Fans can catch live coverage on ESPN+ and follow the team’s updates on social media platforms.
