Utah State Athletics Shines in Community Service: Ranks 13th Nationally in Volunteerism
LOGAN, Utah – Utah State Athletics has proudly ranked No. 13 in the NCAA Division I Helper Helper Top 25 for community service and engagement in the 2024-25 season, contributing an impressive 4,147 volunteer hours to the Logan and Cache Valley area. This commitment translates to an estimated economic impact of $144,274, based on the national volunteer pay average of $34.79 per hour.
Several Utah State programs excelled, with six teams earning top 10 placements in their respective sports categories. Highlights include men’s tennis at No. 2, women’s tennis at No. 3, men’s basketball at No. 5, softball and women’s basketball tied at No. 7, and women’s soccer at No. 10.
Diana Sabau, USU Vice President and Director of Athletics, emphasized the vital role of community engagement, stating, "Our impact in athletics extends beyond competition, creating a well-rounded student-athlete experience." The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) played a crucial role in these efforts, representing all 16 NCAA Division I programs and contributing 741 service hours through various community events. Utah State’s commitment to service continues to enhance both the university and local community.
