Utah Basketball Welcomes Erick Schork as Director of Sports Performance

In a significant move for the Utah basketball program, head coach Alex Jensen has announced the hiring of Erick Schork as the new director of sports performance. This appointment comes after Schork spent the past two seasons at Snow College, where he successfully oversaw the athletic development of eight teams.

Prior to his tenure at Snow College, Schork gained valuable experience at BYU, where he served as the director of sports performance from 2016 to 2023, working under coaches Dave Rose and Mark Pope. Jensen expressed enthusiasm about Schork’s addition to the staff, stating, "I’ve seen first-hand the work he’s done to elevate players and programs. Erick is a world-class sports performance professional, and we are fortunate to welcome him to Utah."

The partnership between Jensen and Schork is rooted in their shared history at Saint Louis University. Jensen was an assistant coach there while Schork was the director of strength and conditioning for nearly a decade, reinforcing their collaborative foundation. Schork’s background also includes four years at Wright State, where he managed training for all 16 of the athletic programs.

A recognized authority in his field, Schork has achieved the title of master strength and conditioning coach from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. His extensive experience also includes a stint with the Buffalo Bills as well as contributions to designing the Columbus Blue Jackets’ first weight room.

Expressing his excitement for the new role, Schork remarked, “I’m excited to reconnect with Coach Jensen and work with him once again to help build something special here at the University of Utah. I can’t wait to hit the ground running with our guys this summer and immerse myself in the community here in Salt Lake City.”
