Aggies Shine at NCAA West First Rounds, Hammer and Bott Advance to Nationals
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Utah State men’s track & field team showcased their talent at the 2025 NCAA West First Rounds, with junior Logan Hammer and sophomore Landon Bott qualifying for the national championships. Hammer secured his place in Oregon by clearing 5.42 meters (17-9.25) in the pole vault, despite three misses. With a personal record of 5.70 meters (18-8.25), he ranks second nationally.
Bott excelled in the 800 meters, finishing fourth in his heat with a time of 1:48.71, which allowed him to advance to the quarterfinals scheduled for Friday. The reigning Mountain West champion demonstrated impressive speed, particularly in his second lap.
Sophomore Walker Deede competed in the javelin, achieving a throw of 65.70 meters (215-7) to place 21st overall. Juniors Marshall Rasmussen and Javin Richards cleared 5.02 meters (16-5.5) in the pole vault, finishing 26th and 33rd, respectively. Graduate Camren Todd wrapped up his collegiate career with a 26th place finish in the 10,000 meters, holding multiple conference honors.
