Five Utah State Softball Players Earn Academic All-District Honors
LOGAN, Utah – In a significant achievement for Utah State University’s softball program, five student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, announced on Tuesday. This marks a record number of honorees for the program, surpassing last year’s four. Returning honorees include seniors Giselle Gonzalez and Grace Matej.
Gonzalez, a psychology graduate with a 3.7 GPA, concluded her season with impressive statistics, including a .362 batting average, a program-record 17 home runs, and 60 RBIs. She also excelled defensively at first base, boasting a .989 fielding percentage.
Senior Olivia Marble, who transferred from Abilene Christian, achieved a 3.81 GPA while studying dietetics. This season, she maintained a .372 batting average and featured prominently with 13 doubles, three triples, and strong performance in all 52 games she started in center field.
Matej, also a senior, holds a 3.71 GPA while pursuing international studies. For the second consecutive year, she received Academic All-District honors, having posted a .372 batting average and a perfect fielding record of 1.000 as a catcher.
Juniors Emmalyn Brinka and Carly Limosnero rounded out the academic honorees. Brinka, majoring in communication studies, recorded a 3.71 GPA and made 31 appearances as a pitcher this season, while Limosnero, a psychology major with a GPA of 3.73, transferred from California Baptist and made significant contributions in the pitching circle as well.
