Utah Mammoth Boosts Roster with New Prospects: Simashev and But Sign Entry-Level Contracts
Utah Mammoth General Manager Bill Armstrong recently addressed reporters following the signing of entry-level contracts by Dmitri Simashev and Daniil But. Armstrong emphasized the valuable role of Mikhail Sergachev, a fellow countryman, in easing their transition into the NHL. "Having a great player as a resource allows for a comfort level; Sergachev can guide them through the challenges of being newcomers," he stated.
Armstrong noted both players’ experience in the KHL, suggesting they are close to securing spots on the NHL roster. He acknowledged potential adjustment challenges due to playing on a smaller North American rink, particularly for the larger But. "If they acclimate during the summer, it could significantly benefit their training camp performance," he added.
In assessing their development, Armstrong praised Simashev’s impressive mobility and defensive skills, while describing But as an aggressive player with a knack for scoring. Both players are set to attend the upcoming development camp, an opportunity Armstrong believes will help them acclimatize to the team culture and showcase their leadership potential.
