Utah State Women’s Basketball Welcomes Saskia Krüger to the Team
LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head women’s basketball coach Wesley Brooks announced on Tuesday the signing of forward Saskia Krüger, a move expected to bolster the team’s performance.
"Saskia gives us a post player who perfectly fits our style of play with her ability to play inside out," Brooks remarked. He praised Krüger’s physicality, skillful footwork, and versatility, highlighting her capability to shoot from the perimeter while effectively defending the post. "She embodies the characteristics we seek in our system and will continue to develop further."
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch, Krüger most recently showcased her talents for ASC Theresianum Mainz in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga. In her stint with Mainz, she played 18 games, averaging 6.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Her standout performance included a season-high 16 points against Rheine-Main and a double-double achievement with 13 rebounds. Throughout the season, Krüger recorded double-digit scoring on four occasions and achieved double-digit rebounds twice.
Before her time in Germany, Krüger honed her skills at Baobob College in Lusaka, Zambia, where she earned accolades such as the Sportswoman Award of the Year and was recognized as a two-time MVP at nationals. Notably, she made history as the youngest player to compete in the Zambian national league.
