Utah State Track and Field Prepares for 2025 NCAA West First Rounds
LOGAN, Utah – Utah State University’s track and field team is primed for competition with 21 athletes qualifying for the 2025 NCAA West First Rounds, taking place May 28-31 at E.B. Cushing Stadium in College Station, Texas.
The event kicks off Wednesday at 9 a.m. (MT), with further competitions scheduled throughout the week. The track and field community can tune in via ESPN+ for live streaming and track results via Record Timing.
Director of Track & Field/Cross Country, Artie Gulden, expressed confidence in his team’s readiness, stating, "We are very proud to have 21 student-athletes here at the NCAA West prelims. Our athletes are eager to advance to the NCAA finals."
Highlighting an impressive season, pole vaulter Logan Hammer has etched his name in USU history by setting multiple school records, including a remarkable outdoor mark of 5.70 meters (18-8.25) at the Beach Invitational. Hammer currently boasts the second-best outdoor pole vault mark in the NCAA.
The momentum extends beyond Hammer; Utah State’s distance runners have also been rewriting records. Camren Todd and Sarah Ellis have both achieved standout times in their respective events, while the women’s 4×400-meter relay team set a new record with a time of 3:38.66, breaking a nearly three-decade-old mark.
Overall, 21 Aggie athletes will compete across 18 events, aiming for top-12 finishes to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships in Eugene, Oregon, scheduled for June 11-14.
