Utah Valley Baseball Coach Nate Rasmussen Leads Team to Historic Success
In a remarkable turnaround, Nate Rasmussen has solidified his reputation as a winning coach during his tenure at Utah Valley University. A 2012 Pacific graduate and former assistant coach, Rasmussen has consistently transformed baseball programs, leading his teams to exceptional improvements. After joining Pacific in 2014, he helped the Boxers elevate their record from 13 to 25 wins by 2016. His success continued at Northern Colorado, where the Bears climbed from 16 victories to 29 in just two years.
Under Rasmussen as associate head coach, Utah Valley made history in 2023 by achieving the largest turnaround in Division I, going from a dismal 10-47 in 2021 to an impressive 34 wins. In his first season as head coach, the Wolverines triumphed in the 2025 Western Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament, defeating Abilene Christian and securing a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
Key player CJ Colyer, a former standout at Pacific, made headlines by hitting critical home runs, contributing to the team’s success. With the NCAA Tournament matchup against Oregon on the horizon, Rasmussen feels a sense of homecoming as he reconnects with his roots in the region.
