The Surprising Adventure of a Krishna Couple in Utah

Krishna Temple Flourishes in Utah’s Heartland

Spanish Fork, Utah – Charu Das and his wife, Vaibhavi Devi, found their spiritual calling in 1980 when they purchased a small radio station in Utah County for $225,000. As members of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), their vision was to create a platform for broadcasting Krishna-focused content. Today, their property boasts the stunning Shri Shri Radha Krishna Temple, a 10,000-square-foot house of worship distinctive for its Northern Indian architectural style.

Nestled in picturesque surroundings, the temple and its lush grounds serve as a community hub, where llamas roam and visitors enjoy a donation-based vegetarian buffet. Initially, their dream did not include constructing a temple; they started with a log house for Sunday services. However, in the early 1990s, they expanded, culminating in the successful construction of two temples, supported by local devotees and the Hindu community.

With educational programs attracting around 4,000 students yearly, the temple also promotes the Hindu Festival of Colors, an event that draws thousands each spring. As Das engages the public through innovative music, including AI-generated tracks for their radio station, the couple reflects on their journey, inspired by a mission of connection and devotion.
