Bear Causes Stir in Heber City, Captured After Chase
Heber City, Utah, May 26, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A bear led local authorities on a nighttime chase through Heber City this past Saturday, prompting a series of tense moments for residents. The Heber City Police Department received reports of the bear near the Wingpointe Apartments pool.
Initially darting across Highway 40 toward the Sheriff’s Office and nearby emergency room, the brown bear continued its escapade, eventually appearing at On the Run gas station and later at the Royal Coachmen. Local officers managed to track the bear, ultimately cornering it in a tree.
The Utah Division of Natural Resources (DNR) arrived to safely tranquilize and capture the bear, which was then relocated to a remote area away from populated zones.
