David Njoku’s Celebrity Softball Game Set for June 19 in Eastlake
EASTLAKE, Ohio — Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku is gearing up for his second annual celebrity softball game, scheduled for June 19 at Classic Auto Group Park. Last year marked Njoku’s inaugural hosting of the event, which has a history of attracting notable personalities, including former Browns stars and celebrities from various fields.
Previously, the event was led by NFL players Jarvis Landry and Greg Newsome II. It’s become a tradition at the Lake County Captains’ facility, enchanting fans with celebrity participation. Last year featured a thrilling finale with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce winning the Home Run Derby, delighting the crowd.
Excitement is already building for this year’s game, with a lineup that includes numerous celebrities and athletes such as Joe Flacco, Jabrill Peppers, and WWE superstar Johnny Gargano. "We have some great people coming. It’s really exciting," Njoku shared, highlighting the star-studded roster.
This year, the game will kick off at 7 p.m., moving from its usual afternoon slot to a primetime setting under the lights, which Njoku believes will create a more vibrant atmosphere. "It’s a different energy under the lights, and we’re ready to embrace it," he stated, expressing determination for a better outcome against team captain Myles Garrett, after last year’s defeat of 20-5.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit local charities supporting youth baseball and young athletes. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m., with tickets already on sale.
