Kaylah Nelsen and Kennedy Proctor Earn All-Big 12 Honors
IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference has announced its annual postseason awards, recognizing standout performances in collegiate sports. Utah’s Kaylah Nelsen and Kennedy Proctor have both made impressive strides, earning spots on the All-Big 12 Second Team. Proctor further distinguished herself by being named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team, making her the first Utah catcher to receive all-conference honors since Brooke Olson in 2011.
Nelsen has built on her previous season, achieving All-Big 12 Second Team recognition for the second consecutive year. In 2025, she has excelled offensively with 63 hits—ranking her fourth in the league—and tied for sixth in doubles with 12. She posted a strong .375 batting average during conference play, placing her eighth in the Big 12 while leading in both doubles and hits. Notably, Nelsen has been the league’s toughest player to strike out, with only two strikeouts in 80 at-bats and has the longest hit streak for Utah, recording hits in 13 consecutive games.
Proctor has also made a significant impact in her debut season, ranking sixth in RBIs within the conference and landing in the top ten for home runs and slugging percentage. With a batting average of .356, she has achieved multiple RBIs in eight games and tied for fourth in catching base stealers. Her performance earned her the title of Big 12 Player of the Week on April 1.
