Press Release: New Initiative Aims to Support Renters and Veterans Facing Housing Instability

Salt Lake City, UT – The Utah Housing Coalition has introduced a new initiative this week, forming a Landlord and Community Partners Coalition aimed at strengthening relationships between landlords and tenants. This coalition comes in response to a concerning 23% failure rate in Utah’s Housing Choice voucher program, highlighting the urgent need for collaborative solutions.

Project Manager Zoe Newmann emphasized the initiative’s goal to provide equitable solutions and connect residents to essential supportive services that already exist within their communities. With approximately 40 partners onboard, the coalition intends to develop holistic leases, which aim to provide better security for renters.

In North Dakota, a similar focus on housing stability for veterans has led to the state approving $1 million over two years for veterans needing housing support. With rising rent costs impacting many, including veterans, local advocates stress the importance of addressing these ongoing challenges.

Both initiatives represent crucial steps in addressing Utah’s and North Dakota’s housing crises, providing vital resources, promoting collaboration, and aiming for long-term stability for vulnerable populations.
