University of Utah Men’s Golf Team Competes in NCAA Regionals
Bremerton, Wash. – May 12-14, 2023 – The University of Utah Men’s Golf team is set to make its second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Regionals, this time at the prestigious Golf Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington. As the No. 3 seed, the Utes continue to solidify their reputation in NCAA golf, marking their fourth regional selection in the last five seasons.
Utah’s recent postseason journey began in the 2020-21 season, culminating in a remarkable fourth-place finish at last year’s Austin Regional, which qualified them for the NCAA Championships for only the second time in program history. The players are familiar with the course, having previously competed at the Husky Invitational here.
This season has been record-breaking for the Utes, who captured four team titles and five individual victories, the most ever recorded by the program in a single year. Utah has consistently finished in the top three across seven of its twelve tournaments, showcasing exceptional talent on the course.
Ranking at No. 17 in the nation, Utah is one of three Big 12 teams in the top 20, accompanied by strong programs like Oklahoma State and Arizona State. Individually, Gabriel Palacios, Sergio Jimenez, and Brandon Robison hold notable positions, ranking 37th, 49th, and 97th, respectively.
The NCAA Bremerton Regional features 14 teams, including strong competitors such as Arizona State and Florida. The competition format entails 54 holes over three days, with the top five teams advancing to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, California.
