Man Arrested for Attempted Murder of His Sister in Midvale, Utah
MIDVALE, Utah — A 32-year-old man, Taylor Don Hooiman, was taken into custody on Tuesday and is facing charges of aggravated assault, attempted murder, and aggravated burglary after allegedly breaking into his sister’s home with intent to kill her. According to court documents obtained by FOX 13 News, police received a distress call from a woman who reported that her son was en route to attack his sister.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that Hooiman had climbed to the second-floor deck of his sister’s apartment. He attempted to enter through a locked sliding glass door while his sister tried to keep him out. In the ensuing struggle, he broke the glass door and inflicted multiple lacerations on her hands with a kitchen knife. After gaining entry, Hooiman reportedly stabbed her in the chest but paused, claiming he "couldn’t go through with it."
Hooiman later asserted to police that he sought to kill his sister to "solve the problem," believing she had been tormenting him for two years. He is currently being held without bail as the investigation continues.
