UHC Wraps Up Inaugural Season with Player Assessments
As the Utah Hockey Club concludes its inaugural season, player performances are under the spotlight. Captain Clayton Keller excelled with an A+, leading offensively and improving his off-ice presence. Logan Cooley, also graded A+, showcased his dual-threat ability, contributing defensively while building his comfort as a player.
Standout Dylan Guenther secured an A+ for consistently delivering game-winning goals, while Kevin Stenlund impressed with his contributions well beyond expectations, albeit with lingering regrets about his short contract. Barrett Hayton earned an A for strong growth in his two-way game, while Nick Schmaltz received an A-. He reached a career high, despite slower starts.
In the B range, Jack McBain set personal records while providing necessary energy, and Josh Doan struggled to find his role but displayed potential. C+ grades went to Liam O’Brien and Kailer Yamamoto, both facing challenges in consistency and depth.
Matias Maccelli, with a disappointing season earning a D, will need adjustments for a successful return. Overall, the UHC’s debut season showcased promising talent and growth amid significant learning experiences for the young team. Expectations for the next season will be high as they seek to build on this foundation.
