Mavericks Triumph Over Wolverines with a 7-4 Victory
ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington Mavericks secured a 7-4 victory against the Utah Valley Wolverines on Sunday, showcasing a strong offensive performance with five players recording multiple hits.
After trailing 3-0, the Mavericks rallied in the fourth inning, sparked by sophomore Xander McAfee’s two-run homer, which set the stage for a comeback. Though Utah Valley momentarily extended their lead to 4-2, UT Arlington’s offense surged in the sixth, scoring three runs led by a two-RBI double from sophomore Caylon Dygert, bringing the score to 5-4.
The Mavericks continued to assert their dominance, adding another two runs in the seventh with additional doubles from Dygert and senior Tate Bethel. Senior Rhys Stevens earned the win after 0.2 innings of shutout relief, complemented by senior Caden Noah’s impressive three shutout innings.
The Mavericks outperformed the Wolverines with 13 hits, including a powerful showing by Dygert, who tallied two extra-base hits. Following this victory, the Mavericks prepare for the final stretch of their season, with their next game against Dallas Baptist on May 6.
