Utah Utes’ Offensive Coordinator Josh Beck Making Waves in Recruiting
As Josh Beck embarks on his inaugural season as Utah’s offensive coordinator, his recruiting efforts are gaining momentum. Recently, he secured a commitment from a promising four-star quarterback and is now focusing on another top prospect for the class of 2027: Sione Tu’amoheloa-Kaho from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington.
Tu’amoheloa-Kaho announced via X/Twitter that he has received an offer from the Utes following a "great conversation" with Beck and quarterbacks coach Koy Detmer Jr. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 205 pounds, Tu’amoheloa-Kaho is recognized as one of the top 15 quarterback prospects in his class by 247Sports. Last season, he solidified his standing with impressive stats, throwing for 2,192 yards, 17 touchdowns, and rushing for an additional 370 yards and seven touchdowns.
His family has a strong football background, with two brothers who played at the college level. The list of schools vying for Tu’amoheloa-Kaho includes powerhouse programs such as Alabama, BYU, Oregon, Washington, and UCLA, all of which he has been visiting recently.
In the 2027 recruiting class, Utah’s only commitment so far is Thaddeus Thatcher, a four-star quarterback from Arbor View High in Nevada. Thatcher, who is also the younger brother of Utah freshman linebacker Christian Thatcher, has garnered attention for his stellar performance, throwing for 3,271 yards and 34 touchdowns last season. Additionally, Utah is making headway with Ian Aloisio, a highly-ranked interior offensive lineman prospect from Timpview High School, as they continue to build a robust recruiting class.
