Aditi Ashok Shines in Utah Despite Early Setback
Ivins, Utah – Indian golfer Aditi Ashok displayed resilience on the opening day of the Black Desert Championship, presented by Greater Zion, overcoming an early bogey to finish strong in a tied 29th position with a score of three-under 69.
Aditi’s round began on the back nine, where she stumbled with a bogey on the 11th hole. However, she quickly bounced back, securing birdies on the 13th and 14th holes. Despite another setback with a bogey on the 16th, she managed an even-par 36 on her first nine. The second nine saw her shine as she recorded two additional birdies on the fourth and seventh holes, wrapping up the day with three-under par.
This season, Aditi has shown promise, successfully making the cut in three of the four tournaments she has participated in. She currently ranks 102nd in the season standings.
In contrast to Aditi’s performance, Indian golfer Rayhan Thomas faced challenges at the Tulum Championship in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Thomas carded a disappointing five-over 77, landing him tied for 124th after the first round. In his previous nine starts this season, he has managed to make the cut four times, with a best finish tied for seventh place at the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic.
Leading the Tulum Championship is Mitchell Meissner, who opened with a six-under 66. He had seven birdies and only one bogey, marking a strong start to the tournament. Zach Bauchou is positioned second at five-under, while Kensei Hirata, a noteworthy rookie, follows closely in third.
As the tournaments progress, both Aditi and Rayhan aim to elevate their performances and make impactful moves in the standings.
