Maple Mountain Boys Volleyball Dominates Springville, Eyes State Championship

In a thrilling matchup on April 29, 2025, the Maple Mountain boys volleyball team showcased their prowess by sweeping Springville in three sets (25-17, 25-16, 25-18). This victory extends their remarkable winning streak to 36 consecutive matches against Utah competition, solidifying their status as a powerhouse in the state.

The Golden Eagles recently represented Utah at the First Point High School Boys Invitational in Austin, Texas, where they finished as runners-up in the Legacy Division, losing only to top-seeded Windward from California. "It was an honor to represent Utah on a national stage," said senior Trey Thornton, a standout player who finished last season with 429 kills.

Under the guidance of first-year head coach Napoleon Galang, the team also welcomed new talent, including promising freshmen Kimball Olsen and McKay Beattie. Star player Thornton, who will play at BYU next year before serving a mission, emphasized the importance of teamwork and preparation.

With a strong RPI and the top seed in sight for the 5A state tournament beginning May 9, Galang and his team remain focused on their ultimate goal: clinching another state title.
